Grady Sturgess

Grady Carl Sturgess, Jr. goes by Grady. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on May 20, 1958. “Yeah, I know Eisenhower was president and there were only forty-eight states,” remarked Grady.

He graduated from Benedictine Military School in Savannah with honors in 1976 and then from the University of Georgia in 1979 with a BA in Political Science. Grady received his MA in Political Science a year later. He said, “As there were no political science stores to work in I took over my family’s commercial and industrial construction company in 1981.” He has constructed over four hundred buildings in and around Savannah, Florida and across the southeastern United States.

Grady was married to his wife, Lori, for twenty-five years and they have two wonderful children, Grady, III who is thirty-six and Taylor, who is thirty-four. He is also a proud grandparent to five grandchildren and he has three sisters, two in their seventies and his little sister is fifty-five.

Although Grady is currently without a pet, he loves dogs and has owned several German Shepherds and Great Danes. He enjoys fishing, hunting and walking where he walks, on average, nine miles a day. But Grady’s favorite activity is flying – he is a high-time pilot who has owned two high performance twin engine aircraft and flies for ‘Angel Flight’ whenever he is able. Grady has earned his SEL, MEL, IFR and High-Performance ratings.

When he is not busy for Seth Chandlee or Jim Chandlee, Grady runs a hotel in Suwanee called InTown Suites. He is in a long-time relationship with Sharry and they live in Suwanee – both cursing the terrible commuter traffic.

Grady was introduced to Chandlee and Sons Construction through a mutual acquaintance, and as he was available, he accepted the position of Estimator in December 2017. Grady’s experience is a great help to both the office staff and the field personnel. Welcome aboard, Grady!
