Chandlee and Sons Construction Company welcomes Ken Rybnikar to our team as a Senior Project Manager. He brings to the table thirty plus years of commercial construction experience as a Georgia Licensed Commercial General Contractor.
Ken was born and raised in Northvale, New Jersey, a suburb of New York City. He showed an entrepreneurial inclination from an early age beginning a full service commercial landscaping business while in high school that he operated for seven years. Ken provided lawn maintenance services and heavy landscape construction while utilizing his expertise in new design.
This was the foundation of his experience in operating heavy equipment – through the years he has gained extensive experience operating excavators, backhoes, loaders and dump trucks. Ken also maintains his CDL Class A driver’s license. Simon & Schuster, S.C. Johnson Wax and Esselte Pendaflex are just a sampling of his corporate accounts during this time.
For the next eight years Ken worked as the Operations Manager for one of the largest asbestos abatement firms in the New York City area. He supervised a crew that averaged 40 members while directing the work of the general contractors and sub-contractors including carpenters, electricians, plumbers and HVAC workmen.
Ken made the transition into commercial construction in 1997 when he accepted a position as Construction Manager for a commercial contracting firm. During this time he managed projects in New York City at the World Trade Center (buildings 1, 2 and 7) and for the Chase Bank World Headquarters at 270 Park Avenue, 100 Wall Street, 14 Wall Street, and 919 3rd Avenue.
In 2001 Ken, and his wife, Carolyn, relocated to Georgia in order to be near family and friends. He began his own construction firm specializing in the remodel of restaurants, department stores and other commercial businesses along with occasional residential projects. Ken established himself solidly in the Atlanta metro area and he soon crossed paths with Seth Chandlee and Jim Chandlee.
Ken subcontracted some for Chandlee and Sons over the past four years developing a very positive working relationship with Seth and Jim – which led to a job offer to join the Chandlee team in the summer of 2015. Ken was thrilled to come on board and everyone at Chandlee and Sons says, “Welcome to the C&S team!”
Ken and Carolyn live in Johns Creek with their dogs, Buster and Molly. Ken plays the bagpipes as Pipe Sergeant for the Atholl Highlanders Pipes and Drums of Stone Mountain in his down time.
