Laura Carithers has spent the past twenty-five years working in the construction business from estimating to sales and administration to accounting. At one time, she operated a small demolition and painting company. Although Laura used her skills and trade experience in a variety of positions, she enjoys project coordination the most.
She was born in Mississippi but later she moved with her family to Warner Robins, Georgia where they remained for forty-eight years. Her father was an electrical engineer and her mother was graphic illustrator – both worked on the Warner Robins Air Force Base. Her grandfather was a well-known architect and created several historic buildings in Savanah.
Laura has lived in Alpharetta for twenty-two years raising her three children. Her eldest daughter is an Olympic equestrian, horse extraordinaire and an artist. Her son is boxer winning the Georgia State Games several times. He is also following in the footsteps of his grandfather learning the trade of an electrician. Laura’s youngest child is a sophomore in high school. She is a gifted artist with a passion for Cosplay (the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially from Japanese genres of manga and anime).
With a great interest in the green movement, Laura is planning a complete remodel of her home to make the property a self-sufficient mini farm. Her interests include her Quarter horse, Beau, and her many dogs, especially her Chihuahua. The family also has eighteen chickens and two turtles. Laura’s hobbies are hiking, camping, gardening, cooking and being outside in the nature.
Laura was an Executive Office Administrator with Mansell Executives Suites beginning in 2005. Five years later, she went to work for Horizon Construction as the Senior Project Coordinator. While there she established the Facilities Department working directly with Chick-fil-A. From 2014 until recently, Laura took a hiatus from working to care for her elderly mother and handle family business.
Laura has known Seth Chandlee for a while through family connections and has a family member working with Chandlee Electric. Seth connected with Laura in the business world when he called Horizon Construction to check the references of someone she had previously trained. Through this reconnection Laura was invited to join the Chandlee and Sons team as the new Project Coordinator. The staff at the Chandlee companies says, “Welcome to the team, Laura.”
