Enterprise Rent-A-Car – Buford

The ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR project became a mad dash on our end due to a last minute request for an inclusion giving us two days to secure. The contract was award to Chandlee and Sons Construction Company on January 16, 2016, less than six hours after the bid was submitted. Seth Chandlee, Managing Partner, made this comment, “Our first awarded Enterprise store. Baam! We get to build a carwash on this one too!”

The scope of this light industrial project is a full interior and exterior up-fit including specifications for the ground-up construction of a car washing facility. Enterprise is under the supervision Senior Project Manager, Carey Hughes.

Demo work was completed and the crew began the rough-in of the electrical on January 29 taking three days. On February 5 the concrete was cut into and removed. The crew began the framing work completing it five days later. The underground plumbing work was performed on the 8th and the inspection of the slab, plumbing and electrical passed the next day. Concrete was poured on February 10. Andy Cook, in-house electrician, and his team began the installation of the outlets and switch legs in the new walls and were finished for the inspection on the 11th. The HVAC rough-in work began on Friday, February 12 and the wall cover inspection was performed.

Seth commented on Monday, February 15, “The Enterprise Rent-a-Car center on South Bogan Road is wrapping up on the inside. The City of Buford released the permit for the exterior work and Enterprise gave us the thumbs up, so work shall continue.”

Sticking to the schedule the crew began hanging the dry wall Monday – a day after Valentine’s Day. During this week the doors were set, the HVAC was moved and the electrical trim, tile work and painting began. By week’s end the cabinets were installed and work on the sheetrock was wrapping up. A crew member scanned the area where the car wash is being constructed with a state-of-the-art machine that resembles a lawnmower looking for underground utilities. (See pictures). Painting continued into the following week and plumbing and electrical trim work was performed. The ceiling cover inspection was performed February 23 and the electrical, plumbing and data trim work began. The carpet was installed 3 days after. By month’s end the project was nearing completion.

On March 1, Project Administrator, Lindsey Kitchens logged this information on the project: Storage room leak fixed and exterior work continues. The engineer is coming today for final and the Fire Marshall is scheduled for tomorrow. We plan to present the Certificate of Occupancy by the 3rd.

The owner moved into the interior space on Tuesday March 8 while our crews continue with the ground-up construction of the exterior car wash. The senior project manager was on hand for the pouring of the footings on the 8th and the pad was poured for the dumpster two days after.  Chandlee Electric ran the electricity for the vacuums, sewer pump and lighting. The key drop box was installed on the 11th and all the exterior paint was touched up.

Through the month of April the Chandlee crews worked on the details of constructing the exterior car wash. On the 26th the gravel was ordered and delivered and the project passed an inspection. The following day Carey logged that the car wash slab was poured, anchor bolts were inspected and spot on, the footings and plumbing passed inspection, Chandlee Electric connected the pump, and the date for the delivery of the steel building was set for May. Seth Chandlee visited the site and commented, “The car wash for this Enterprise Rent a Car is nearing completion. The construction of the interior was completed last month.”

All of the concrete was poured and the interior cuts were made beginning on May 2. The metal building arrived a few days later which required additional framing. Brick was added to the columns and stucco was added to the soffit. Chandlee Electric pulled the wire tying into the existing building and added the exterior lighting. The construction of the car wash was completed Monday, May 16.
