Production studios are where movies, videos and animation are created, edited and restored; where artists record music of every genre; and where broadcasts originate live or recorded for television, radio and films. Advertising and marketing firms often have production studios as do photographers and artists of every medium. In this age of technology even architects, graphic and industrial designers and realtors have production studios to produce materials for clients such as three-dimensional video graphic presentations. Chandlee Construction uses one such service, Vantage Point, to film 3D virtual reality tours of specifically chosen projects. See the “Virtual Tours” icon on the Home page on this website to view our current selections (it is located on the right side of the page).
Chandlee Construction Company is no stranger to television productions. Early in our company’s history, co-founders Seth Chandlee and Jim Chandlee, found themselves on a televised episode of the Discovery Channel’s Auction Kings – Seth was selling a Filipino head-hunting hatchet he had purchased at a yard sale. This production was seen by the producers of A&E’s Drill Team, who asked Seth and Jim to be the building contractors for an episode of the show to be filmed in Atlanta. Soon after A&E asked the Chandlee team to be the contractors on two episodes of their super-fast construction show, Sell This House: Extreme, also being filmed in Atlanta. Just as production was finishing Spike TV called Seth to enlist his help in locating a bar to remodel in the Atlanta area. After spending the day with Seth, the producers realized they had their building contractor. Chandlee Construction built-out their project in under thirty-six hours in Tucker, Georgia located east of Atlanta.
Through the above-mentioned projects, Chandlee Construction gleaned tremendous experience in the production of televised programs and what is required to produce them. Since that time our commercial construction firm has built (in this category) two locations for the Bach to Rock Schools of Music. These two commercial projects contain offices and rooms for lessons and band rehearsals, along with recording studios, sound stages, auditoriums, and control booths with all the special equipment required for this type of business.
Chandlee Construction also contracts with developers for other site improvement projects including enclosing dumpsters or upgrading the façade (or exterior look) of older centers. Sometimes the work includes upgrading sidewalks, pillars and even parking lot revitalization.
In 2018, our firm undertook a large project repurposing a former paint factory and warehouse in northwest Atlanta into the Huff Trail development. Within this very large space, a substantial event venue was created, The Fairmont, along with the creation of several common areas, public restrooms, and a variety of art and design businesses. One project in this amazing space was for Crazy Legs Productions. This 12,000 square foot space includes dark rooms, offices, and production and sound-proof studios on two levels. They are a story-telling film company with locations in Los Angeles, and now Atlanta.
