Our firm remodeled the interior and exterior of the popular VENTI ITALIAN BISTRO located in Cumming, Georgia. We also performed the fast-track remodel of the gourmet STUFFED BURGER flagship restaurant in Athens, Georgia.
Partners Seth Chandlee and Jim Chandlee and a very large team of professional contractors and craftsmen completed the demolition and ground-up construction of the mountain theme, award-winning, BIG SKY BUCKHEAD restaurant and bar in February 2014. This project required the demolition of an existing structure and the ground-up construction of a two-story building. Due to the variety and quantity of handcrafted finishes extensive man hours were necessary and required us to apply fast-track methods at specific stages in the construction. Big Sky has three bars on two floors and a large outside dining space. The bar on the top floor has garage-type doors that open the space to the outside – this single feature placed Big Sky on a Zagat.com Top Twelve list. Seth and his crew then moved to a site in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood on the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta Beltline for the build of LADYBIRD GROVE & MESS HALL – a restaurant, bar, and music venue. This project involved the transformation of a former cotton mill into a restaurant and bar with indoor dining rooms and both open and enclosed outdoor dining spaces. Ladybird contains finish elements that incorporate reclaimed and repurposed materials in unique applications. This demolition and build-out project was completed in July 2014. Ladybird has been written up in several publications for its unique presentation of space and food and made the Top Fifteen award on Eater.com. BASIL’S RESTAURANT suffered a terrible fire in 2014. Owner Joseph Kahwach hired our professional commercial contractors for the demolition and ground-up build and remodel of his family owned restaurant. Along with a completely new design, the project also features i-pod controlled light displays and wonderful outdoor dining. The Basil’s project wrapped in July 2015 and Joseph held the grand re-opening on August 1.
Near the first of the year our team began work on the design for the build-out of a local eatery, CHAD THAI URBAN ASIAN KITCHEN for owner Chad Eby. This project involved the reconfiguration of the kitchen from a pretzel store into a full-sized commercial kitchen. Seth exercised his creative skills once more in the design of a feature wall constructed of multi-colored repurposed wood. Once the design was completed, we began the demolition and build-out through a hard winter into spring. We turned the project over to Chad in May.
That same month Chandlee Construction signed a contract for the build-out of a newly resurrected franchise, BALDINO’S GIANT JERSEY SUBS, in the Windward Way center on Highway 9. We presented the Certificate of Occupancy to probably the youngest franchise owner ever on August 13. His second restaurant is scheduled to begin construction in three months with a third restaurant following three months after second one opens. Beginning with the second restaurant Chandlee Construction will design and build each new store in the metro Atlanta store.
URBAN COOKHOUSE signed with Chandlee Construction on August 31 for the design/build of their flagship store in the amazing Sandy Springs Gateway mixed-use development. This project will be our largest restaurant to date and the only stand-alone structure in Gateway. Our firm is also responsible for designing, permitting, constructing and opening every new Urban Cookhouse Restaurant.
