Alpha Spine Center

Alpha Spine Center was the first of three design-build projects undertaken by Chandlee and Sons Construction Company in the mixed-use development of Braeburn Village in Milton, Georgia. Seth Chandlee and Jim Chandlee, co-owners of Chandlee and Sons, were charged with the responsibility of creating a unique design for each of the three buildings and then carrying out the design within each building.

The building for Alpha Spine was a one-story structure of contemporary design of over 4,000 square feet painted white. The scope of the project was to construct a suite of examination rooms, waiting rooms, equipment rooms, client and staff restrooms, conference rooms, an employee kitchen and more. In the main waiting room there is a continuous curved soffit around the service desk that flows out into the hallway. The Chandlee and Sons crew created a custom-designed fan pattern in the hardwood floors of the lobby area. They also inserted thick sheets of lead inside of the sheet rock walls that enclose the x-ray room for protection of staff and patients.

In addition to the established scope of the project, Dr. Salminen asked for a dedicated space to use as a sound booth where he could broadcast his weekly call-in XM radio show. Seth and Jim created the booth for the doctor from a portion of one of the conference rooms.

Chandlee and Sons transferred the clean modern lines of the building’s exterior into the interior rooms to create a sense of order and serenity. Dr. Salminen’s Alpha Spine Center is located in Building 40 at 12220 Birmingham Highway in the Crabapple community.
