On June 20, 2016 Chandlee and Sons Construction Company submitted the plans, the permit and revisions to the City of Alpharetta, Georgia for this unusual new project, BACH2ROCK, a school of music, located in The Silos of North Farm Marketplace in Alpharetta, Georgia. The contract was signed between Jim Chandlee, Senior Founding Partner with Chandlee and Sons Construction, and the representative of Wavelength Learning Group, Inc. for the build-out of this music school.
The plans for the just under 3,000 square foot space include a reception room with a waiting area, five lesson rooms, three band rooms, a large control booth that will access both the recording studio and the auditorium (or performance room), a spacious room for events and entertaining, an office, restrooms, closets and storage.
This project requires new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, sprinklers, strobes and more. The floor finishes are vinyl tile and commercial grade carpet with ceramic tile for the restrooms. The ceiling is acoustical ceiling tiles. There are also over $2.500 in special mirrors to be installed. Custom millwork, some with granite countertops, will be installed in the reception room, the events room and everywhere it is required in the design.
Once all of the materials were removed from the space left behind by a former tenant construction began on the project under the expert supervision of Chandlee & Sons’ Project Manager, Chuck Fatheree. By July 14 all of the framing for the drywall was complete and the rough-in of the electrical was underway. The plumbers were on site the following day to begin the rough-in and the drywall crew began to hang the drywall (or sheetrock) for all the walls that define the interior spaces.
As of July 26 all wall cover inspections passed including mechanical rough, electrical rough and plumbing rough. Now at 40-45% complete. Additional work to be performed included increasing the wall height from 12 feet in the back hallway, replacing the existing rear entry doors, and add dry wall to the Event Room. Project Manager Chuck Fatheree is to secure pricing for restroom wall and floor tiles, new cabinetry, and have client make flooring material selections.
By August 17 the acoustical ceiling tile grid was installed. Chuck changed the cabinet order and got plan approval. The following day the crew began the grid for the dry wall ceiling finishing it the next day. The dry wall finish was complete and the installation of the lighting was underway. The sanding of the dry wall was complete, the rough in of the HVAC was underway as well as the relocation of the sprinklers by August 22.
