This light industrial project by Chandlee and Sons Construction Company was for SIP INDUSTRIES located at the corner of Rayloc Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive a block from Fulton Industrial Boulevard in Atlanta. As the owners requested, Chandlee and Sons divided the original 90,000 square foot warehouse into two 45,000 square foot spaces. A small warehouse that adjoined this larger warehouse was demolished in order to give easier access to the building and add to the outdoor storage space. The entire property contains a total of 250,000 square feet of enclosed warehouse storage with eight acres dedicated to outdoor storage.
The scope of the project consisted of cleaning, patching, resurfacing and fully restoring every exterior and interior vertical and horizontal surface of the two 45,000 square foot warehouses. All of the electrical components were updated throughout both warehouses and more than 200 three-foot overhead light fixtures were replaced with new fixtures. The new lights contain motion detecting devices that come on when a forklift enters the aisle and the lights cut off when it leaves. This one update saved the client a considerable amount of money over the course of a year. New HVAC systems were installed and every foot of plumbing was replaced. The offices, employee kitchens, break rooms and bathrooms were remodeled and every square foot of the expansive warehouse storage in both warehouses was updated. All of the exterior doors were replaced and new gates were installed outside of the buildings.
