Seth Chandlee, Managing Partner at Chandlee Construction, received a call from Tuesday Morning executives on July 19, 2016 – he was asked how much time did he have. They were flying in from Texas the following day to discuss the remodel of their Chamblee Dunwoody Road store, and new stores in Peachtree City, Peachtree Corners plus one to be located in the Brighten Park Center in northeast Atlanta. In the conversation they remarked, “We have one hundred stores to build!”
The Brighten Park store is adjacent to the brand new Whole Food’s Market. This project is slated for an October 31 opening.
Senior Project Manager for Chandlee Construction Construction, Carey Hughes, logged on August 10 that he had scheduled meetings with various demolition contractors to received bids for the demolition of the space that will soon be a brand new Tuesday Morning retail store.
Seth commented on September 21, “This is the first 100% prototype Tuesday Morning retail store in the Southeast – a second one will open soon in Knoxville, Tennessee. We have 12 days to finish. At present all vendors are on deck to make this the fastest Tuesday Morning project in our company’s history! C&S has three project managers teaming up and we will even use two vendors per work category if needed. Go Team!”
The next day, Project Manager, Arcenio Pena, met with the flooring contractor to schedule concrete repairs to begin on the 27th advising the electricians to be finished by then. Materials for the walls and ceilings were ordered. Arcenio also spoke with the sub who is installing the new windows to have the demolition done by the following day and to have the new windows in by the 26th.
On October 3 Arcenio performed a progress walk-through with three representatives from Tuesday Morning and three from Chandlee Construction. It went well with requests made to add to the scope of the project. The site should be substantially complete in seven days. On the 6th the polishing of the concrete floors was complete, painting of the walls was ninety-eight percent complete, the front egress door was repaired thereby securing the property, the film from the front glass was removed, all materials were removed from the site, and the entire space was cleaned. A week later the shelving units were in place, fire alarm and security testing complete, the drinking fountain was installed, and all windows and the store front were cleaned. The store passed final inspections with flying colors and the final photos of this newest Georgia Tuesday Morning store were taken on November 3.
“This is the first prototype store for Tuesday Morning and the first for Georgia”, commented Seth Chandlee, CEO of Chandlee Holdings, on October 3, 2016, “I was introduced the new day-to-day project managers from corporate, Debbie and Jennifer, with ten years running construction for Target and six years in the industry. The word on the street is that ‘we are in good hands’ with the new generation of decision makers. Our team built this department store in twelve days!”
