Tuesday Morning – Parkway Pointe
Chandlee and Sons Construction Company began our third design/build project for TUESDAY MORNING and for developer Retail Planning Corporation. This particular store is located in the Parkway Pointe center at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Cumberland Boulevard in Cobb County, Georgia.
This 12,086 square foot build is managed by Ken Rybnikar, one of our Senior Project Managers. This is our first store for Tuesday Morning that utilizes tall open ceilings. With the store having a second story the store receives deliveries by a lift or boom. The project has two restrooms, an office 8 feet by 11 feet, a larger employee breakroom and a storage room that is approximately 120 square feet.
By October 30, 2015 the painting of the ceiling is complete and the framing and electrical work has started. One photo below features a red boom truck delivering the drywall to the job site. Seth Chandlee, Managing Partner at Chandlee & Sons, commented on the boom saying, “I’m a geek when it comes to specialized equipment.”
Ken’s update on November 2 stated the deliveries are offloaded from the boom onto the second floor outdoor patio where the materials are wheeled inside the store. He said, “All the material come up that way. It’s kind of cool equipment for deliveries. [In the photo] the guy in the hard hat and safety vest is controlling the boom remotely. If you look close you can see the control box.”
By the third week in November the exposed ceiling was painted, the existing sprinkler system was removed and a new system was installed, all of the walls were framed, the drywall installation was complete along with the underground plumbing, the floors were being prepped, and the lighting installation was in progress. We did suffer some delay because of power issues to the center.
Seth commented on November 30, “Twenty-nine days to finish or liquidated damages pays me a visit! And Christmas has no bearing. Therefore, I brought in our miracle worker, Project Manager, Carey Hughes, to assist Ken and the crew in completing this huge undertaking. Ken, Carey and our crew will complete the flooring, HVAC ducting, lighting, plumbing and electrical, all the millwork, rough and trim, and then the punch-out. We plan to be finished right after Christmas but before New Year’s –that’s our goal.”
“The Parkway Point Tuesday Morning was open as of March 18, 2016. Come and see the great new store! On May 2, D&B Glass Company installed a special Tormax set of doors at this location under the supervision of Senior Project Manager Carey Hughes.
