Chandlee Construction Changes Pretzels into Thai Cuisine

Chandlee and Sons Construction co-owners, Jim Chandlee and Seth Chandlee, signed a contract with the owners of the Chad Thai Urban Asian Kitchen in early January 2015 for the architectural design and buildof their new restaurant in the space of a former Old Pretzel Factory.

Once the drawings and plans were completed and approved, and the permits were granted work began in earnest on February 2. Priority one was thereconfiguration of the existing kitchen to accommodate all of the necessary components of a full size commercial kitchen. Partition walls were removed and the entry was defined to allow a clear view from the dining room into the kitchen. One week into permitting the underground utilities had passed inspection, framing was complete, mechanicals were roughed in, and the crew was poised to begin the drywall installation as soon as the inspector gave the approval.

By February 16,Jim Chandlee, co-owner and project manager,and the crew were moving quickly along on schedule. As part of the new design the existing tile flooring, public restrooms and drop ceiling were incorporated. The owners wanted a display on a large wall near the entry to the restaurant to represent an Asian street market and also a wall of spices. Chad Thai is located in the Deerfield Place facing Highway 9 in Alpharetta next door to the Firehouse Subs.
