Chandlee and Sons Construction Company signed a contract for the build-out of a Canadian franchise restaurant called GO-GRILL. Karthik Kanakoraj, the new franchise owner, is bringing the first Go-Grill to Georgia in the Suwanee Jubilee shopping center in Suwanee, Georgia – it is one of only three in the United States to date.
The Chandlee team began demolition work on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 under the supervision of Senior Project Manager, Kenneth Rybnikar. The ceiling tiles and the existing countertops are to be retained. Kenneth accessed the job site on the 2nd and took the first photos.
Work began in earnest a week later. Soon the framing package materials arrived. Dixie Concrete cut into the slab for the installation of the 1,500 gallon grease trap and the plumbers began their under slab work on the 15th.
The Chandlee Electric team began wiring the outlets on Friday the 18th. Kenneth noted that framing began on the 21st with the installation of the steel studs. Three days later the crew installed the canned lights so the space could have light. The drywall work began on the four days later. Kenneth noted the project passed the slab inspection on March 28.
The fourth day of April Kenneth stated the boring for the grease line and the plumbing rough-in were complete and thereafter the new concrete floor was poured and dry. Seth Chandlee, Founding Partner of Chandlee and Sons Construction and CEO of Chandlee Holdings, commented on April 7, “We are making headway in the construction. This is the first Go Grill franchise in Georgia – another first location for a franchise in Georgia for Chandlee and Sons.”
By the second Monday in April the installation of the large hood vent was finished. The electrical, plumbing and gas work was done along with the construction of the knee wall. The crew completed the install of the ceiling grids and framed the hard ceiling in two days. The tile was ordered from Traditions. At this point the work on the project was 40% complete.
Senior Project Manager, Kenneth, noted on April 20 that the wall cover passed inspection. The following Monday the tile patching was complete and drywall arrived for installation. The floors were prepped and the kitchen floor was finished. By the first week in May the ceiling was done along with the partition and the walls were roughed in. Once the HVAC was completed the Chandlee Electric crew got right back to work. The electric, plumbing and HVAC trim was completed by the May 6. The kitchen equipment arrived four days later, the drywall was complete, the red cabinets were installed in the kitchen and extra HVAC work was also completed in the kitchen. The grease trap was in the following day with the plumber on tap for the following day. By the 24th the walls were primed, the equipment was connected and the 80% fire and ceiling was scheduled this week.
Seth visited the site on Memorial Day and made these comments, “Go-Grill in Suwanee, Georgia is the first east coast location for this vibrant franchise chain!”
Within the first few days of June the ceiling paint was complete and the final building inspections performed. Employee training began on Friday, June 3, the health inspection was performed on the 9th and the restaurant opened the next day.
Seth commented on August 15, “Go Grill’s ‘Grand Opening’ is official – August 18! Atlanta’s first of many locations is now open. This Canadian based franchise made its way to Atlanta for its expansive growth in the restaurant sector. We at Chandlee and Sons enjoyed helping this new franchise brand – a design/build for us. Go check it out near Sugarloaf Parkway.”
